From time to time, we are asked to share case studies in which we have had successful outcomes using the Burke Learning Agility® suite of tools, as well as for updates on how the Burke tools are being used in international contexts.
In the fall of 2017, EASI•Consult partnered with an international industrial manufacturing corporation present in 80 countries. This corporation has approximately 65,000 employees and serves more than 3.5 million clients.
As part of a larger leader development program, approximately 15 high-potential leaders within the organization were selected to participate in the 360 Degree Burke Learning Agility Survey. These leaders spanned several functional areas within the organization (e.g., finance, IT, operations, etc.) and reside in countries around the world, such as France, Korea, China, and Vietnam.
Upon completion of the 360° Burke LAS, each participant was given a one-hour debriefing by an EASI•Consult-certified learning agility coach, who walked the person through his or her results and answered questions about the feedback given. Participants were also given a Learning Journal in which to record their reactions to the feedback, identify opportunities for leveraging strengths and closing gaps, and gain additional insight from raters on areas of uncertainty.
By the end of the call, participants were able to understand their own learning agility levels (across all nine factors measured) both as they rated themselves and according to the perspectives of others (their raters).
Within two months of the feedback call, each participant was asked to conduct a follow-up 30-minute call with his or her EASI•Consult coach to walk the coach through what he or she learned as part of the process, including documented plans for growth. Additionally, EASI•Consult coaches met with the project lead within the client organization to brief her on all of the high-potentials in terms of their findings and engagement during the process.
The entire engagement was a success both from the perspective of the participants (in terms of helping them identify tangible opportunities for growing as leaders) and the client (in terms of solidifying their understanding of each leader’s potential).
In February, I led a Burke Learning Agility Suite Certification in Melbourne, Australia. The certification program was a tremendous success with both organizations and consultants represented.
The certified users are now leveraging the Burke tools in assessing and developing leaders throughout Australia. The feedback that they provided further enabled EASI•Consult to continue to improve the functionality of the tools to meet the needs of our international partners.
EASI•Consult looks forward to continuing to expand the certified user base throughout other countries in 2018, as well.
